What do Ethics Have to Do with Safety?

I always include the message of "Respect" in my talks with high schools and corporations over the years  - taking the conversation beyond WHIMS and hard hats to creating a workplace culture of employer respecting employee, and visa versa.

We Ask the Right Questions... in Portugeuse, Italian and French

We tell hundreds of students, parents, employers, employees and the general public every year to speak up on the job and ask ask ask: Where's the hot equipment is, where might it be slippery underfoot, what kind of equipment shoudl I wear? What are company policies on health/safey, and what happens if someone doesn't follow them?

We've had a great little video out for a short while now called 'Ask the Right Questions", and then we asked ourselves a good question: What about those folks whose first language isn't English? How will they get the important message this video has for them, too?

So, we translated "Ask the Right Questions" into:

Students at work continue to get injured on the job. There are many reasons for this happening. Some are not properly trained, some are not trained at all, some are careless, or they don't work in a safe environment.

Sometimes the easiest way for us to get bogged down is to let things pile up... Now that the autumn season is inches away, our families are relearning old routines and and introducing new activities onto the schedule, while at work we are faced with the approaching holiday crunch and year-end assignments.
